First of all, if you need any kind of explanation as regards this you can find me in the AAA used cars rooms.
And now let's try and face the problem you have.
When you have a ôFile Mismatch 004ö, there can be two reasons.
In a very limited number of cases, you are in someone's queue for a file which is the same size as yours, but it's a different one. BUT when you have multiple file mismatches on the same file, most likely your file is corrupted. This can happen when your computer crashes, for example.
When that happened to me at the beginning, I trimmed it a few Kbs like WinMX allowed me to do, but it was in vain, and in the end I deleted it.
I kept doing that till one of my traders taught me how to resume a movie which I had almost completed before my computer crashed, cutting off it at least 10 megabytes. (NOTICE that if the procedure fails you could have to take off up to 50-100 mbs, but this is very uncommon.)
If you have already decided to delete your incomplete file, you have nothing to lose trying this method.
It is quite simple, but you need a freeware program called "msplit", which you can find here:

When you have the "msplit" program, follow the step-by-step instructions below:
1. Install the program - sorry, but I had to remind you... :)
2. Clear the incomplete file from the "TRANSFER" window on WinMX, after highlighting it.
3. Open the folder where WinMX puts your incomplete downloads. If you donÆt know where it is, on WinMX's TRANSFER window click on the "Open Incoming Files Folder" button.
4. When your incoming files folder is open right-click on the file you need to repair and a few options will show up. Select the "Max Splitter" one.
5. A window will open up. Make sure that the name of the file you want to repair is in the box above. You can also run "msplit" and open the file from there, after selecting the "Add a single file to list" icon, which is the one with a blue mark, and browsing.
6. Take note of the default "Output Directory" or indicate a new one after selecting the "browse directory" button, which is the one that resembles an open folder, on the right.
Remember where your "Output Directory" is, because "msplit" will put your split files there.
As regards me, I created a folder on my desktop, which I called "split files" and indicated it as my "Output Directory".
7. Going back to the "Max Splitter" window, deselect all boxes referred to the "Options" you have below, except for the "Overwrite Confirmation" one.
It is very important for you to deselect the "Delete Original file" option above all, because this way you won't lose the original file in case something goes wrong.
8. In the "Size/piece" box, you have a number.
That is the exact number of bytes of the file you are going to split. Of course it has to overcome 10 Mbs, otherwise you can directly delete it and start it again.
You have to rewrite the number you see in the box after reducing it by 10000000.
For example, if the number you see there is "725325684", you have to highlight it and type "715325684" in its place, or, better, "715000000", which is simpler and will do all the same. DonÆt put dots or commas inside the number.
When you have done this, in the "pieces" box you will have a "2".
9. Now you are ready to split the file.
Click on the "start splitting" button you have below.
The splitting can last a few seconds or a few minutes, depending on the file size and on the computer you have.
"Msplit" uses much ram when it's splitting; therefore you better close other applications if your computer crashes often.
10. When the 100 % of the splitting is reached, click on the icon with a red "X" which is above on the right, and you will see your incomplete file disappear from the box.
After that, you can close "msplit".
11. Now open the "Output Directory" which you previously chose or made.
You will find 2 files there.
They will look exactly like the incomplete file you split, but one will end like ...avi.001 and the other will end like ...avi.002. If you check on their properties, you will see that one of the two is more or less 10 Mbs. You can delete that one.
Drag the other file out of the folder, instead, e.g. to your desktop. If you don't do this, "msplit" won't let you move it to your incoming folder later, when you need to replace your corrupted file.
You can ALWAYS copy it if "msplit" doesn't let you move it, but that will take you more time and HD space.
12. When you have dragged the bigger file (which is usually the ...avi.001 one) to your desktop, rename it deleting the .001 part.
You will see its icon change, and the file will show up as a .avi one. (Of course this is just an example, as you can split different types of files).
13. Now you can put the split file into your WinMX incoming folder. When asked if you want to replace the original file, which should be more or less 10 Mbs bigger, say "yes".
14. Close everything and go back to WinMX.
In your "TRANSFER" window, click on the "load incomplete" button, and the file you cut will appear in red.
If you did everything right, the size of the file should be the one you typed in the "Size/Piece" box on Max Splitter, and you will be able to resume it.
